Creevykeel

Creevykeel court tomb built in the third millenium B.C. Iron was smelted in it much later during Christian times. This has been called the finest court cairn in Ireland. It is a wedge shaped mound with a burial chamber. It was excavated in about 1935 and "restored" to its present form. More about Creevycreel was at (http://www.heritagecouncil.ie/publications/stone/site67.html) the Heritage Council of Ireland web page, but since they have moved the page I cannot find it. There is also mention of this site in a book Dolmens et menhirs: la civilisation mégalithique
by Jean Markale, 1994
