Creevykeel court tomb built in the third millenium B.C. Iron was smelted
in it much later during Christian times. This has been called the finest
court cairn in Ireland. It is a wedge shaped mound with a burial chamber.
It was excavated in about 1935 and "restored" to its present
form. More about Creevycreel is at
the Heritage Council of Ireland web page.
